Welcome to the Barnyard! Our animal crew loves it when you and your kiddos visit. It means snack time! :) It was very recently pointed out to us that the barnyard has grown from sharing our kids' favorite farm animals here and there with those who come to pick flowers into another reason people come specifically to the farm. As we start to develop this barnyard side of the farm we wanted to provide what to expect when you visit for the rest of 2026.
During the week, when the farm is open to the public, kids can view, pet the animals through the fence, and feed the animals! This interaction is perfect for little ones! The animals come over on their own terms when they're curious, happily eating snacks offered by hand.
In the barnyard area, you will find a herd of goats. Rocket is the Daddy, with his very impressive horns. There are quite a few Mamas goats. Some who are expecting babies very soon and others are due to deliver later this fall. Look for the sign when you visit to figure out who is who. To feed the goats, put some animal feed in your hand and hold it up to the fence. The goats will use their tongue to lick it off. Kids usually say "it tickles"!
The newest arrival to the barnyard is our piglet, Rosie! She is just over a month old. She is quickly learning about snacks, but still takes A LOT of naps!
The chickens are surprisingly the favorite of all toddlers! Where a goat may be mistaken for a dog, chickens are recognizable and move a lot! Throw the animal feed in like confetti and watch the chickens race to get it. Putting animal feed in the coop one by one can result in a chicken mistaking their fingers for worms. It is better to throw the feed in or drop from up high. Whatever doesn't make it in the coop will get cleaned up by our resident ducks.
The bunnies! We have two bunny coops. If it's not too hot, they come out of the house section to say hello! They really like clover...which we have a giant patch of right at your feet! ;) If we have baby bunnies, we will get them out at our story time to hold.
Ducks: The three amigos, our ducklings, Sunny, Shadow, and Blue, are usually found together roaming around or swimming in the blue pools. They are growing up and fun to watch, please refrain from chasing and picking up now that they've grown into their teenage stage. Our older ducks are Muffin and Bubbles are a pair. Bubbles tried unsuccessfully to hatch baby eggs this summer. It was her first try, so hopefully she will have better luck this fall. Thank you for letting them roam freely by not chasing or picking them up.
Turkeys: "What are those birds?" It is one of the most asked questions we get. Our turkeys, Tom and Mary, are teenagers. They wander the whole meadow looking for bugs all day. Right now, you can tell them apart by their neck. Tom's neck is turning red. Eventually, he will go bald and start strutting and showing off. If it seems like they are following you around. They are ...well not you. But they do like the tiny bugs your feet kick up as you walk.
Please Note: We try to always have some sort of baby animal on the farm, May-October. Since the farm is self-serve, people trickle in and out all day. Feeding interactions are always available when the farm is open. However, the best chance that we are available to help you hold a baby animal is during Story Times (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:30)
In 2025, there is no entrance fee. A bag of animal feed is $1. The feed goes for all the animals except the Rabbits. The preferred option is exact cash in the Cash box located in the pink stand where you pick up the animal feed. Feel free to use the QR codes in a pinch, but it does charge us a fee...even out of a dollar.
If you are just coming for the animals and not purchasing flowers, would you consider making a small donation of $5 to $10? As of right now, there is no entrance fee to the barnyard. As we have seen a growing interest, we hope to expand, update animal enclosures, and bring in a few new animals to the barnyard, and donations would help us do that. Thank you!
We have always believed our farm friends will help us grow by showing us what they enjoy. You all love the flowers, and now we are seeing families come for just the animals. It is time to grow again, and we are excited! Maybe next year...we will add sheep and alpacas!
